My life and work inspired me to write a series of books under the shared title Life is Good, Potentially. The name goes back to my time in South Korea, when Lucky Goldstar rebranded as LG and introduced the slogan “Life is Good.”

These books follow my journey — living and working in countries often facing political, financial, or economic crises. I write from experience in the banking sector, observing not just instability, but the deeper question of potential. What holds a country back from becoming what it could be? Why do some nations grow without truly progressing?

Welcome. I’m Erik Versavel.

I hold a Master of Law diploma of the University of Antwerp, and a director’s diploma of the Singapore Management University. I have been a senior international banker for four decades and lived with my small family in London, Seoul, Jakarta, Shanghai, Kyiv, Ulaanbaatar, and Colombo. I travelled extensively across Asia and Europe and prefer eating with chopsticks and spoons rather than with fork and knife.

I became a Knight in the Order of the Crown of the Kingdom of Belgium in 2009 for my contribution to international trade and industry, for chairing chambers of commerce and representing my country and Flemish region with flair and enthusiasm.

In 2019 I was appointed as Honorary Consul for Belgium to Mongolia.

I am a published author. I hope you will enjoy reading my books
