My rating: <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/8954940512">4 of 5 stars</a><br /><br />
How to say this. I think the concept that there exists in the world an increasingly large group of people who can be considered strangers and that this group can and possibly already is larger than those who are firmly and unequivocally anchored in "one" nation or cultural identity, is very interesting and in itself a solid reason to read this very well written book. Whether the subtitle "Rebuilding Home..." is appropriate is another matter - probably a marketing gimmick by the publisher. In fact the author places all people who are in some form or another opposing, victim of, sidelined and marginalised by an increasingly large number of "fascist" leaders in the world, in the same group. That is very valuable but as other reviewers have pointed out it also ignores the sometimes very large material discrepancies within this group. I also initially felt that the structural concept of writing letters to the readers does not necessarily work well all the time, but the alternative would have been a diary style book, which would also not have been perfect. At the end it is the sequence of the 4 main questions that drive the book, and that is great.
